In Loving Memory of Howard Redfern of Meadowfrost
“Howie”

To the American Kennel Club, he was Howard Redfern of Meadowfrost—a dog of noble breeding, handsome structure, and quiet dignity.
To us, he was simply Howie.
He was our partner, our guardian, and the very heart of our family for 14.5 extraordinary years.
For the first chapter of his life, Howie was more than a pet—he was a dedicated service dog. Every day, he put his sharp mind, steady heart, and gentle nature to work, watching over me with a quiet, unwavering vigilance.
He took his job seriously, but he did it with the characteristic warmth and joy that only a Labrador Retriever can bring.
When a torn ACL while running free in the yard brought an unexpected early retirement to his working career, Howie stepped into his new role as Chief Couch Protector and Official Family Companion without missing a beat.
He traded his service vest for years of belly rubs, classic Lab appetites, and sunny naps, showing us that his true calling had always been simply loving us.
As the years slowed his grand body down and grayed his sweet muzzle, Howie’s devotion never wavered.
Even when his back legs grew tired and his world became confusing, the sound of his name—and the voices of the people he loved—could always pull him back to us.
He fought with everything he had to stay near his pack.
Today, we give Howie the final, profound gift of peace.
We release him from his tired body, from the pain in his legs, and from the confusion in his mind, carrying the heavy weight of grief so that he no longer has to carry any burden at all.
Thank you, Howie, for your years of service, your unconditional loyalty, and the honor of being your family.
Rest easy now, sweet boy. Your shift is done, your duty is fulfilled, and you will be loved forever.
